NEWS TOPOLOGY AND ECOSYSTEM On Monday and Tuesday a group of NewsTools2008 collaborators are meeting at UC-Berkeley to develop a map of the way we've created news in the past and how it may look in the future. This visual tool will help us get started when we convene on Wed., April 30, at 4 p.m. at Yahoo's cool conference/learning center in Sunnyvale, Calif. WHAT'S YOUR "DO" TOPIC? Meanwhile, all of us participants should be thinking about the topics and "do it" projects we want to discuss and undertake on Thursday and Friday. If you have a project/topic to propose, you can email it now to jtm@mediagiraffe.org or post it on the wiki page: http://www.mediagiraffe.org/wiki/index.php/Jtm-sv-topics After March 17, we're going to start culling the topics, adding some additional ones, matching them with the technologies transforming journalism. We'll be in touch with many particpants for suggestions for project sessions that connect the various dots. SATURDAY SPJ The Northern Berkshire chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has teamed up with Journalism That Matters to help program the final day of NewsTools2008 on Saturday, May 3 at Yahoo. There will be some SPJ'ers who will "day trip" on Saturday. As a NewsTools2008 participant, however, all of Saturday's program is open to you included in your single registration to NewsTools2008. In addition, SPJ is looking for afternoon panel ideas and speakers on the topics of journalism, democracy, innovation and sustainability.
