Imagine you bought a used car back in 2003 and after driving it around for a few months you discovered that the odometer had been rolled back, the airbags had been deployed and never replaced, the spare tire in the trunk was bald and the transmission had been so badly abused that it burnt out in six months. Would you buy another used car from the same salesman? Hopefully, after getting burned by the same salesman once, you would never trust him a second time. Sadly, people in America seem to like being suckered. Despite the fact that George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Bill O’Reilly and others on the far right were caught lying about the threat that Iraq posed back in 2002 and 2003, some Americans are more than willing to trust the same exact people when they make identical claims about the threat Iran poses! It was only five years ago that the above propagandists were telling America that Iraq had ties to al Qaeda and that they were attempting to build a nuclear bomb. I did not personally believe these lies. The CIA, the US Department of Energy and the IAEA all declared that was not in the process of attempting to build a nuclear warhead. I believed the reports and analysis of the CIA, the US Department of energy and the IAEA over the shrill rhetoric of Bush and Cheney, and my fellow Americans told me I was a fool and a “cheese eating surrender monkey” for doing so. I turned out to be right, and all the suckers who believed Bush, Cheney, Rice and O’Reilly were proven to be wrong. Since the neocons so recently made millions of Americans look like fools you’d think they wouldn’t be in a big hurry to trust them again, but you’d be wrong. Now Bush and Cheney are screaming that it’s Iran that’s “only months” away from producing their first nuclear bomb. As a matter of fact the neocons first starting broadcasting that Iran was “only months” from building it’s first nuclear bomb back in May of 2006. That was twenty-nine months ago. Or to put it another way, two years and five months. And while we’ve been waiting for Iran to develop their first nuclear warhead, a national intelligence estimate was published with all sixteen of America’s intelligence agencies agreeing that Iran has no nuclear weapons program and that IF Iran ever had a nuclear weapons program that it was abandoned back in 2003. This national intelligence estimate should have become public in February 2007, however Dick Cheney spent almost a year applying pressure to the CIA to rewrite the report on because it's conclusions clashed with his "World War III" rhetoric. All of Cheney’s intimidation didn’t change the conclusions of America’s intelligence agencies, however it did delay the NIE’s conclusions becoming public until December of 2007. In addition to the fact that EVERY INTELLIGENCE AGENCY IN AMERICA has publicly concluded that Iran is NOT trying to build nuclear weapons, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency has announced that there is absolutely no evidence of a nuclear weapons program in Iran. The IAEA has been allowed into Iran to perform multiple inspections and the conclusion has been the same every time. Iran is not attempting to build nuclear weapons. You would THINK that this would put the matter to rest and that we'd hear no more of these lies. However Bush and Cheney STILL insist on selling us their ludicrous lies about Iran being a "threat" and how we need to "stop" Iran. Idiots who were taken in by Bush and Cheney back in 2003 seem to be more than willing to be taken in by them a second time. I've spoken to some of these idiots on the phone, on the internet and in person when I visited North Carolina and Virginia back in August. Sadly nothing I say seems to have any effect on these people. They actually WANT to be scammed and as a result they say things like, "what if he's telling the truth this time?" or "How can you know for sure?" How can I know for sure? How about the fact that an agent that provided top secret U.S. military intelligence to Iran is still walking around free and the U.S. GOVERNMENT STILL PAYS HIM MONEY!? If Iran was REALLY the monstrous threat that Bush and Cheney claim, then we wouldn't tolerate people passing secrets from American intelligence to the government of Iran. If an American did it we'd consider it an act of treason. If a foreigner did it, we'd consider it (at least) an act of allying themselves with an enemy of the United States, and we'd want them arrested if they ever set foot on American soil. Almost certainly we'd want them captured or killed before we got into a shooting war with Iran. After all we don't want them passing even MORE secrets to the Iranians while we're at war with them! However Ahmed Chalabi sold top-secret, classified American Secrets to the Iranians and IN DEFIANCE OF ALL LOGIC, not only is he NOT being sought as an enemy of the United States, he is ON THE US PAYROLL!!! We've paid Ahmed Chalabi over a million dollars and we continue to pay him more money every year!!! Despite the fact that he sold American military secrets to Iran!! And Iran is supposedly a grave threat to the United States!!! It is humiliating that full grown adults, with the knowledge that they were lied to just five years ago about the EXACT SAME THING, by the EXACT SAME PEOPLE are willing to be suckered by the EXACT SAME PEOPLE saying the EXACT SAME THING about Iran as they said about Iraq. And the exact same people who were proven right about Iraq five years ago are the same ones who are now claiming that Iran has no nuclear weapons program. While the CIA, the Energy Department, the IAEA have a proven record of being right and Bush, Cheney, Rice and O'Reilly have a proven record of lying their asses off, why should this be a difficult decision to make? Why should the American people have trouble deciding who is right and who is wrong?
