Scripting the Teabagger Meetings, Twilight Zone Style

Hat-tip to Helen of DelphiForums, and to Wikipedia for the text. The following is a studied portrait of a TeaBagger neonazi by none other than Rod Serling, circa 1963. -- GH

Portrait of a bush-league Führer named Peter Vollmer, a sparse little man who feeds off his self-delusions and finds himself perpetually hungry for want of greatness in his diet. And like some goose-stepping predecessors, he searches for something to explain his hunger, and to rationalize why a world passes him by without saluting. That something he looks for and finds is in a sewer. In his own twisted and distorted lexicon he calls it faith, strength, truth. But in just a moment, Peter Vollmer will ply his trade on another kind of corner, a strange intersection in a shadowland called the Twilight Zone.

Where will he go next, this phantom from another time, this resurrected ghost of a previous nightmare - Chicago; Los Angeles; Miami, Florida; Vincennes, Indiana; Syracuse, New York? Anyplace, everyplace, where there's hate, where there's prejudice, where there's bigotry. He's alive. He's alive so long as these evils exist. Remember that when he comes to your town. Remember it when you hear his voice speaking out through others. Remember it when you hear a name called, a minority attacked, any blind, unreasoning assault on a people or any human being. He's alive because through these things we keep him alive.

The biggest danger to America today is the one presented by those who most loudly beat their chests to proclaim their patriotism, while trying to use it as a tool to spread hatred, fear, disillusionment and racism.

Thursday Afternoon Open Thread: Fools and Liars , Robertson and Limbaugh Edition

YouTube:

GOP Talking Heads continue to drivel and drone onward, proving that nothing will dent their hardened empty shells as they march relentless along the road of hatefilled diatribe.

In the video above, Keith Olbermann takes both Limbaugh and Robertson to task for their recent comments regarding the disaster in Haiti.

In the video below, Rachel Maddow shows the reaction of Haiti's ambassador as he slams Robertson for his comments.

"Christian" Leader Advocates Muslim Genocide -- How Christ-like is that?

__________

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

      -- Gandhi

__________

Gandhi was on to something here. Not all Christians; not even all fundamentalist sects. But there are definitely some evangelical fundamentalist sects of "Christianity" that not only qualify for Gandhi's quote, they may also qualify as jihadist extremists and prove themselves worthy of derision as the "American Taliban" of Christianity.

The latest example comes from Media Matters, and concerns the American Family Association's "Christian" leader Bryan Fischer, who goes on-record to recommend genocide and provides biblical justification for it.

To see just how ignorant Fischer's screed is, I've substituted other words for "Muslim" and "Islam" and posted the result under the fold. It's pretty eye-opening (for those who have open hearts and minds, that is).

Open Thread -- Wacko Week, Lunatic Fringe Review Edition

YouTube:

This has been one crazy week, and one heck of a week for crazies.

Here's a quick update: First, courtesy the Huffington Post in a report that AP writer Kathleen Hennessey contributed to, Daniel James Murray (see "Armed and Deranged") has been arrested. Yay -- one more nutcase off the street, a few million more radical wingers to go.

Next, from NorthJersey dot com, we have this:

Far-right radio host Hal Turner will spend the weekend in jail as he awaits a Monday court date where he will fight extradition to Connecticut on charges of inciting violence, according to his lawyer.

Township police arrested Turner, 47, on Wednesday at the request of the Connecticut Capitol Police, who have a warrant charging him for allegedly asking followers to "take up arms" against two legislators and a state official on his blog Tuesday.

Hal doesn't think he should be arrested for saying things like this (hat-tip pavlovdog of DailyKos):

"It is our intent to foment direct action against these individuals personally," the blog stated. "These beastly government officials should be made an example of as a warning to others in government: Obey the Constitution or die."

And, the post continued, "If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they're going to get uppity with us about this; I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down too."

Also -- according the previously linked NorthJersey piece -- Turner wrote the following last Thursday:

The Turner Radio Network "advocates Catholics in Connecticut take up arms and put down this tyranny by force. To that end, THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT ON THE 'HAL TURNER SHOW' we will be releasing the home addresses of the senator and assemblyman who introduced Bill 1098 as well as the home address of Thomas K. Jones from the [Office of State Ethics]"

Um, yeah -- that's incitement, Hal. You're screwed...and you brought it on yourself. Kinda like what you haughtily said about Dr. Tiller after his murder by another of your "brothers with arms" (and no brains).

Speaking of Dr. Tiller's murder, the lunatic responsible for that -- Scott Roeder -- is complaining about his treatment. It seems, unbelievably, that he's being treated like a criminal. Imagine that.

The level of disconnect between their insanity and reality is stark, growing and already frightening.

Keep your eyes open out there people.  The lunatic fringe has taken flight, and they're crazier than a rampagins horde of headless chickens in camoflage pants and suicide vests.  I've attached a Don Henley song that keeps running through my mind at this point: "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" -- it just seems appropriate for the occassion.

In closing, remember: This is an Open Thread.

Special bonus video over the fold: Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" -- dedicated to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Michelle Malkin and -- of course -- Hal Turner.
