Tell the New York Times: RETRACT THE LIES ABOUT O'KEEFE AND ACORN!

[Reprinted in whole from Mark Crispin Miller's "News from Underground."]

By now everybody knows that James O'Keefe, the anti-ACORN video stinger, is willing to lie, manipulate, and apparently break the law, in pursuit of his extremist agenda. Monday, sources inside the Brooklyn District Attorney's office, as reported by the New York Post (long hostile to ACORN) said the videos were a "heavily edited splice job".[1] The New York Daily News further reported that sources in the DA's office, which reviewed the unedited New York tapes as part of a five month investigation -- the first time anyone not associated with O'Keefe has seen unedited tapes -- said "they edited the
tape to meet their agenda

How about this one from Raw Story:

Landrieu phone plot: Men arrested have links to intelligence community

Two of the three men arrested on Monday along with "ACORN pimp" James O'Keefe
for "maliciously tampering" with Sen. Mary Landrieu's (D-LA) phones in
her New Orleans office have ties to the United States intelligence
community.

The three accused by the FBI of "aiding and abetting"
O'Keefe are Stan Dai, Robert Flanagan and Joseph Basel. O'Keefe is 25,
and the other three are 24.

Dai's links to the intelligence community appear to be particularly strong. He was a speaker at Georgetown University's Central Intelligence Agency summer school program in June 2009, and is also listed as an Assistant Director at the Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence at Trinity in D.C.

Judge Orders Breitbart Brat Home to Mommy and Daddy

Co-conspirators Stan Dai and 25 year old WingNerds Gone Wild video producer James O'Keefe seen leaving the courthouse in a photo that O'Keefe did not have a chance to tamper with before I could:

After getting caught messing with the phone lines in Senator Landrieu's Louisiana office, even videoing his and his co-conspirators with their pants caught around their felonious ankles himself, Magistrate Judge Louis Moore released James O'Keefe on bail to his parents' custody in New Jersey until his next hearing on February 13.

Conservative Quackery: Their "Truth" Is The Lie

James O'Keefe, Joseph Basel, Stan Dai and Robert Flanagan were arrested for their roles in a recent attempt to bug Democratic U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu's phones on Monday.

From an article in the New York Times:

Federal authorities said two of the men posed as telephone workers wearing hard hats, tool belts and flourescent vests when they walked into the senator's office inside a federal building in New Orleans on Monday. The other two were accused of helping to organize the plan.

[...snip...]

All four suspects were charged with entering federal property under false pretenses for the purpose of committing a felony, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

This is yet another example of Conservative extremism where it's "ok" to break the laws, provided you don't get caught.

The idea is to sow doubt and dissent about the Democrats -- standard operating fare harkening back through the Atwater school of politics and practiced heartily by such miscreants as Karl Rove, who'd once had the reputation of "master" Republican strategist and dirty trickster. This isn't O'Keefe's first attempt to manufacture a scandal:

Using a hidden camera last year, O'Keefe, posed as a pimp and brought a young woman posing as a prostitute to ACORN offices where staffers appeared to offer illegal tax advice and to support the misuse of public funds and illegal trafficking in children.

O'Keefe's "exposé" of ACORN fell apart rather quickly as it was held up for closer examination, exposing instead the history and habit of 'creative editing' in order to manufacture seemingly damning video. O'Keefe appears to fancy himself a Conservative's answer to Michael Moore, only he's more willing to manufacture situations than to fan the flames of issues that already exist.

TPM posted the affidavit for these loser's Conservative heroe's arrest. (H/T DarkSyde.)

Another hole in the ACORN story by GOP juvenile delinquents?

Another one of their videos has another hole shot in it by the police? The AP is reporting that Vera did call the cops on these two GOP juvenile delinquents:

Police say a worker with the activist group ACORN who was caught on video giving advice about human smuggling to a couple posing as a pimp and a prostitute had reported the incident to authorities.

Police have confirmed that Vera reported it to them. That means two of their videos have been proven as being nothing more than successful at harrassing ACORN workers.
