A View From the Front Lines of the Class War

Crossposted from Daily Kos by GH, with permission.

A beat-up van pulls to a stop just up the road. A creaky screen door opens from the apartment at the end of the building. A young African-American girl runs out toward the van, barely hanging onto a gym bag that was obviously not meant for such a pint-sized carrier. The driver of the van, a middle-aged white man with glasses and a beard, throws the passenger door to the van open and the little girl tosses the bag onto the floor before climbing in. The apartment door, which had banged shut in the meantime, creaks open again as the girl's mother waves goodbye.

"Be good. Have fun," she tells her daughter.

"I'll have her back by eight," the driver replies as the little girl shuts the van door and waves goodbye to her mom.

As the van pulls away and disappears around a turn up the street, the girl's mother allows herself to slump against the door frame for just a moment. She lets go of a long sigh that betrays just how tired she is. She almost doesn't notice me as I approach her door to introduce myself.

Senator Bernie Sanders on the War against the Homeland

Senator Bernie Sanders is not beholden to either half of Party, Inc. and actually can be trusted to speak for people, not profits.

At least, I'm certain he speaks for mainstream America here:

Aren't you?

So where is the money coming from?

CEOs Urge $500B bailout

$700B - $500B ... these numbers are tossed around like they only exist in some arbitrary spreadsheet somewhere.  But in the end our grandchildren will still be paying the bills for these blunders.  Seems like the treasury doors have been taken off their hinges and it is a free-for-all ...

Progressive Values?
Howard Dean - Fairness, Responsibility ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDyxTntD3qg

What does the Democratic Party stand for?

Howard Dean lists these "Core Values" of the Democratic Party

1) Fairness and Equal Rights for all

2) Strength and Toughness

3) Fiscal Responsibility

These are demonstrated by providing Health Care for all.

Dean stresses the urgent need for us to express these values, on an emotional level, and not just in Policy Statements.

"People vote on their Values -- NOT on Position Papers!"

Are you better off than you were 8 years ago?

Have you been working harder and harder, becoming more productive all the time, only to see your wages, fail to keep up with that ever increasing cost of living?

It's not your imagination ...

It's just the way our Economic System tilts ...

For example, check out these disturbing trends:

Real Median Household Income [Notice the Flat-line trend over the last 8 years.]

What's Coming Next, or Is Collapse Over, Nope!

I'm not an economist and the only real numbers I crunch are my personal expenses and when bidding construction jobs putting together those costs and percentages which in these latter years of my life, preferring more to do the work, I have done very little of, except while doing the work to bring a better quality for hopefully a bit cheaper cost in material and professional skill.

Watching what is now taking place in banking and the dream new capitalist economy that's been sold for a number of years isn't really a big surprise to this common man, many were forecasting exactly what would happen if we followed the sales pitch.

Following is a report from CBS that hits on the next shoe to drop or dropping already as we've seen with the collapse of a number of finance institutions but not yet talked about but part of what we the tax payers are already bailing out.

Edwards aims to "Reverse the War On Work"

John Edwards is still focusing on Issues that matter to Working Families!

like the Economy ... like Taxes.

All the while the GOP continues to "debate" that "only MORE Corporate Tax Cuts will create Jobs and keep the Economy strong!"

Hmmm ... Where are all those Jobs, by the way?

Billions in Tax give aways to the Rich, for the last 5+ years, only seem to have strengthen the Rich, it seems to me.

Thanks for tuning in once again, hopeful Americans

And welcome to what John Edwards has called "the Fight for America's Middle Class". This is a fight to reclaim a Voice in our Democratic process -- to speak up for those people, who need a Champion, like you and me.

1st a Question: Who is the Middle Class?
