Two Years, Three Months.

On 60 Minutes tonight, they did a piece on the deep recession. The part that hit hard was hearing how many people have lost their jobs, their 401K, their IRA, savings and other retirement -- and many who have been in that situation for two years or more after being successfully, gainfully employed before the bottom fell out of the economy.

One of the most striking -- to me -- has been unemployed for two years and three months.

That's before the 2008 election. That's sometime around July 2008.

That's before Obama won the presidency. That's when Bush was still president, and the GOP still had significant control of Congress. The economy was still in free-fall.

And nobody was being held accountable.

It's now October 2010. The freefall has been arrested -- for now -- but all efforts to spur a strong recovery are being actively resisted by both the GOP and the Tea Party, spurred on and supported by growing donations from the corporate elitists and oligarchy who have stepped up to the plate to take up the slack after the Abramoff money sluice was interrupted.

Education For The Common Good: We're All Out Of Our Minds

People in the United States of America have been "asleep at the wheel" while their airwaves, traditional media, education and political discourse have been perpetually "dumbed down" to the point where the average citizen is often unaware and indifferent of major people, places and events of the world and from history.

If you don't think education matters, and that news like the latest pop-glam scandal are more important than knowing what goes into our food, our environment, our foreign and domestic policies and what's happening around the world, then you'll probably fail to grasp the significance of the following video:

Republican Resignations: read 'em as "Redeployments"

Remember when the blogosphere lit up with comments about the resignation of Karl Rove? Rove Resigns! echoed across sites across the world.

But that was too simple. Too easy.

Rove didn't resign -- he wasn't going away. He was being redeployed.

"Bless the beastly little children of a lesser god than mine."

For why is all around us here

As if some lesser god had made the world,

But had not force to shape it as he would?

   -- Alfred Lord Tennyson,
Idylls of the King: The Passing of Arthur. Line 13.

Harsh, indeed, rings the title of this article; all the more inciteful for the accuracy with which is betrays the blatant, arrogant hypocrisy of the "priveleged" few. They who would beat their chests with cries of righteousness and claims of Christian piety are the self-same misbegotten misanthropes who call for the annihilation others in the name of their god. Images of destruction and the realities of war fail to penetrate the thick miasma of self-delusion that so heavily clouds their hearts and minds.

We as a nation have been played, taken for fools by fools themselves. I've heard said that there is no rest for the wicked: so be it. There are none more wicked than those who support this Administration and the follies of their war, for it is not a "Global War on Terror" that they wage: it is a war on all that it holy in this world.
