Open Thread: Debt Ceiling or Credit Limit and Other Nonsense

  • Posted on: 1 August 2011
  • By: Roxy

I got a letter from my credit card company the other day ... it said:

Congratulations! We have increased your credit limit to $XX!

Apparently they thought increasing my spending limit was a good thing -- the CONGRATULATIONS! part was heavily emphasized (see below).

CONGRATULATIONS!

They didn't tell me that I could only spend the increase on DingDongs and that I had to curtial my spending at Old Navy. No, the letter simply said I could now spend more money.

From PZ Myers at Pharyngula we get a world cruise of cussing and cursing:

I'm going to regret this…it's a site that teaches you how to swear in exotic foreign languages, like Tagalog and Australian and Latvian.

The comments section may become more profane, but it'll also become more unintelligible.

I swear that on some blogs it might actually improve their comment sections given the level of discourse provided. This may or may not be a profanity free Open Thread now...

They got a lot damned gaul talking like that:

It was bad enough listening to the Obama administration and Democratic party politicians, in general, talking about student loans and using all of the same arguments we were making for Single Payer as the reasoning to change that system but refusing to use the same arguments for healthcare...

But watching the GOP use the same Single Payer arguments to protect Big Oil from the high costs of insuring their own disasters?

Just way beyond the pale:

Rand Paul: I'm like MLK for smoking in restaurants that discriminate against black people

Dear Kentucky, please don't be stupid and elect this clown.

In an op-ed that was published in the Bowling Green Daily News, Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul claimed that he is against smoking bans in restaurants, against mandating that restaurants list calorie and fat contents in their products, and against slavery. Imagine that! It takes really bravery nowadays for a Republican in 2010 to be firmly against slavery!

Yes, Rand Paul is a DOCTOR who is pro smoking and pro fatty, high calorie foods. Where the hell do they find these people? Does the Republican Senate Campaign Committee just ask the members of their caucus to pick a number between 1 and 100, and anyone who knows a number between 1 and 100 gets to run for Senate in their state?

Go below the fold to see what FAILtastic ideas Rand Paul's free market unregulated paradise can offer you!

Glenn Beck endorses "KIKE"

This isn't just beyond the pale -- it's probably the most significant major-media endorsement of American fascist ideology since the 1930s.

~snip~

On his radio show today, Glenn Beck heralded and promoted the work of Nazi sympathizer Elizabeth Dilling, who spoke at rallies hosted by the leading American Nazi group and praised Hitler. Today, Dilling is heralded by White Supremacists and White Aryans who revere her "fearless" work against Jewish people.

Endorsing Anti-semitic, pro Hitler enemies of America is DISGUSTING, and make no mistake, Elizabeth Dilling was charged with conspiracy to overthrow the US Government with the aid of Nazi agents in 1944.

Rand Paul to abolish Section 1 of 14th Amendment, ending birthright citizenship

Recently I have detailed the relationship that Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul of Kentucky and State Senator Russel Pearce of Arizona have with their Neo Nazi, white supremacist supporters.

That is why it was no surprise to me to learn today that Rand Paul told a Russian journalist that he opposes birth citizenship as protected under the 14th Amendment, or, as Russel Pearce calls it "anchor babies".

We’re the only country I know of that allows people to come in illegally have a baby and then that baby becomes a citizen. And I think that should stop also.

Yeah, that's called the Section 1 of the 14th Amendment

More below the fold.

Rand Paul hires Ron's Nazi donation defender as new Campaign Manager & gets David Duke endorsement

Memo to Rand Paul, the jig is up.

A few days ago I posted about how Nazis and White Supremacists are campaigning for and donating to Rand Paul's Senatorial campaign

Paul named a former campaign consultant Jesse Benton as campaign manager for the November election. Benton worked for Paul's father, Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul, when he ran for president in 2008.

usatoday.com

Now here is the juicy part. It turns out that Jesse Benton was the guy who was the lead point man in issuing the non rejection of Ron Paul's Nazi donation that he received from Don Black, who is notorious as an ex KKK grand wizard and founder of the white supremacist website Stormfront.org

[ed note - CM1]  Welcome MinistryOfTruth who has graciously accepted an invitation to post some material here. And enjoy! I know I do.

This must be seen across America. Stormfront.org, which was founded to support David Duke for senate by another KKK Grand Dragon, Don Black, has been promoting and contributing to Rand Paul's moneybombs. Palling around with WhiteSupremacists much?

That's a tweet from Don Black, head of the white supremacist group Stormfront. Wow.

~snip~

So, Trey Grayson should reject donations from Republicans who voted for the bailout........but it's okay for Rand Paul to accept donations from Stormfront? genuineGOPmom.blogspot.com

I will state this loudly and clearly. Over and over at the top of my Jewish lungs.

Rand Paul MUST return Neo-Nazi funds NOW and DENOUNCE Stormfront.org

But he can't. Democrats MUST turn 2010 into a referendum on Rand Paul. So, let's see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Go Figure News

This news story makes absolutely no sense. Why would the police in India want to deliberately blow an undercover agent's cover and more than likely that of his network?

Police: Arrested man is undercover officer
By AIJAZ HUSSAIN, Associated Press, December 6, 2008

Security officials say one of two Indians arrested for illegally buying mobile phone cards used by the gunmen in the Mumbai attacks is a counter-insurgency police officer who may have been on an undercover mission.

A senior police official in Indian Kashmir says the man, identified as Mukhtar Ahmed, is part of a semiofficial counter-insurgency network whose members are usually drawn from among former militants. The official says Calcutta police, who are holding Ahmed, have been told he is "our man and its now up to them how to facilitate his release."

The officer spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the information.

Merger Spawn @ DHS

Weaver+Chardy/McClatchy: Agencies' merger spawns tensions, arrests
Expected to improve efficiency, the merger has instead spawned tension. Both CBP and ICE scored near the bottom in a 2007 survey of employee satisfaction at 222 federal government agencies. .. ''It's become a cultural clash, tensions between officers from the merged agencies . . . There's low morale and tension. . . It's no fun anymore.''

'Course the situation may change in a few months, given the executive's appointment power.
