A review of Kos's Taking on the System -- Discussion
Carol White reviews Markos Moulitsas' new book, Taking on the System and finds in it inspiration for progressives and those who care deeply about American Democracy. Inspired by Aaron Barlow's The Rise of the Blogosphere, White sees parallels between Barlow's and Moulitsas' hopes for technology re-opening the civic space.
Check out what she has to say in her review. Is she right, that Kos has tapped into how progressive can re-invigorate our democracy?

Your comment is so short and so intriguing
Submitted by carol white on Sat, 11/01/2008 - 09:48.I get to a review a lot of books on this digital futurology and so forth. How people can be even more wired up, like chips in the brain. Or how people with various artificial parts from knees, to transplanted body parts view their image.........etc.
I think that Markos like Aaron sees internet technology as an extension of communication not a departure into a new realm of reality, as it were. The difference I think is that Markos is looking to its use primarily, as a medium through which to build an effective progressive movement. I think Aaron comes to it more from his slice of reality as Progressive who teaches journalism. So that for Markos the comparison is with the 'sixties and for Aaron it all starts with Ben Franklin. (Please excuse me Markos and Aaron. Very simplified.)
Hey Susie, Please EXPAND ON WHAT YOU are thinking. You have tantalized me. It is such a great topic.
