Inappropriate Political Discourse: The Blood of Patriots and Tyrants

"What sluggards, what cowards have I brought up in my court, who care nothing for their allegiance to their lord. Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?"

-- The Murder of Thomas Becket, 1170,
            Eyewitness to History.com

It's begun. The wackos have all begun to unwind and step out from behind their stately faux patriotism with their lunatic friends, fomenting rebellion and attempting to instigate violence. It's an insidious fifth column of propaganda and divisiveness, delivered through auspices of free speech yet fooling few in the rank desperation of their calls to incitement.

Attempts to twang racial, social and emotional strings are coming faster, more frequently. From the "That one!" of the campaign, to the NY Post's inappropriate fiscal chimp cartoon and their subsequently foot-in-mouth That Cartoon ham-handed apology, to the rantings of Rush Limbaugh and now Alan Keyes, the nation is under assault. Specifically, it is an assault directed against a President tasked to clean up after a corrupted, incompetent and criminally negligent predecessor and the former majority party that helped foster the disaster that has gone before.

From the Countdown with Keith Olbermann site:

Here's an excerpt (hat-tip noweasels from DailyKos):

"Obama is a radical communist and I think it is becoming clear. That is what I told people in Illinois and now everybody realizes it is coming true. He is going to destroy this country and we are either going to stop him or the United States of America is going to cease to exist."
          -- Alan Keyes

Our nation is in dire straits, on the brink of the worst economic disaster in decades and embroiled in global controversies spanning issues of health, humanity, security and environment -- and these unevolved cretins go on the attack against the primary people and methods that we have at our disposal for dealing with it. A mess that these same fools and liars -- disingenuous, arrogant hypocrites, all -- either directly contributed to or actively opposed efforts to mitigate.

They call for those cowards and lunatics among them to strike out, to lash out and to act against the President. They are trying to foment rebellion and still keep their own hands free of the blood they attempt to stir to violence.

Enough, then.

If the tree of liberty must occasionally be refreshed with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants, then perhaps it is now time for all good men and women of the nation to stand up, stand strong, and confront these degenerates directly: as the hue and cry goes up among the fetid, rotting corpse of inhumanity that feeds upon itself in attempts to stir others to act of violence, let's make sure they are directly exposed to the healing light of day and hounded endlessly for their hypocrisy.

It's time to call them out and to put down their efforts to turn us against ourselves, united against their swill like a nation possessed of the will and wherewithall to succeed in the face of adversity. We need to not only neutralize the words and potential deeds of the "enemies within" -- we need to wholly eviscerate their unholy movement and expose it to the full measure of human reason and sanity.

Don't let such actions and statements by others go unchallenged.

We cannot afford to ignore these growing attempts to incite the unstable toward violence, nor the treacherous and highly treasonous intentions behind them.

They're hurt and angry

and anything that helps the country CANNOT be allowed to succeed so long as Obama is president and the Democrats have a majority. The nation's economy MUST fail if the Republican Party is to have any hope in future elections. This is what they mean by "country first."

Hiya, lordrag! Good to see you here. :)

And you're right -- the GOP desperately wants Obama to fail and will they will do apparently anything to prevent and obstruct any plans or actions that could lead to a "victory" by the Democrats, because that's all the GOP can see: it's not a matter of restoring our fiscal stability or saving the nation, it's an "us or them" thing.

They're staking their lives -- political as well as physical -- on preventing anything that pulls us out of the mess they've created, because that would prove them incapable of leadership in every way that ever mattered.

Unfortunately for the rest of the nation and the world, that means that the GOP is going to do its best to bring us all down with it.

the national gadfly's picture

whack-job morons

These voices, Keyes, Limbaugh, etc. are the errand-boys for the people that think it is OK to fill our minds with religious fundamentalism, reduce us to poverty and slave labor, sink all our nation's resources into bullets, bombs and slaughter.

They are the sons and daughters of the Confederacy whether by blood or by greed.  Sowers of human misery.  They are to be feared and they have been sucking the life out of this country since World War II.

We're in deep kim-chee now, boys & girls.  Be vigilant.

Deeper than kim-chee, I think, and without the

After a couple decades of insanity programming

by message-mongers of the whack-job wing, it seems that only re-education camps might undo the damage.

That's partly your point, however, some damage is irreparable.

Maybe your call for vigilance should seriously consider those special places invented to safekeep the cohort who, left unchecked in open society, threatens the safety of us all.

Ranting of the insane is apparently protected free speech but, when they're gone so far as to yell "fire" in crowded spaces, the wider threat is realized.

Time to see that no other solution exists and to accept the irony of putting the deranged into political asylums?

"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations which dare already to challenge our government in a trial of strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country." - Thomas Jefferson

My sister in AL had read me an

email that stated Obama was the Anti-Christ.  My sister is in her mid 60's, she does not own a computer nor hooked up to the internet.  Someone had given her a hard copy......... Please, I said to her, remember how we were raised to apply a "grain of salt" to things......look beyond.  My mother always would say something like "if someone told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it"... Well I got the message... So usually every time I phone my sister we get into an argument.  What I think I am trying to say is that if we all thought alike, what a very dull world this would be.........

"if we all thought alike, what a dull place ..."

While that's true, there's a distinct difference between the diversity of thought that exists on a university campus and that which one might find camping out in the secure wing of a insane asylum...which is more like living on Capital Hill over by the GOP's main caucus area.

We can all think different things, but life needn't accept pure insanity or reality disconnects in order to maintain diversity.

...that's why we have Republicans madhouses in the first place.

I'm a believer in my backyard.........

I have to take responsibility for it, part of which is my sister.   She keeps me on my toes....and I tend to render her speachless and sputtering!  This also works well with my "redneck" friends in Ava who constantly send me emails on guns and the latest on ammo fixing to be registered which I had to pull a snopes on them!

We must always remember that everything comes full circle........let's educate them to death!!!  We don't want fear to go underground........

"We don't want fear to go underground" -- good point.

They're at their most deadly and dangerous when they suddenly go all quiet...that's when you know they're up to something baaaaaaad...
