MSM/Citizen Journalism Survey

Good afternoon, guys. I'm conducting a survey on the intersection of citizen journalism and the changes taking place in traditional media. The data will be used in a research paper submitted as my final in my NIU Media Management class (J449). If you are or were a member of the MSM, the independent press, a J school educator, or consider yourself a citizen journalist would you consider helping by answering the questions below? The survey should take up no more than 15-20 minutes. You might find it easier to answer each question by copying and pasting them into your comment and writing your answers below each question. If you want privacy, you can send your replies to my email address at ptsdmail@insightbb.com. Your answers will remain confidential (I may quote some of the replies given specifically, but will not use identifying names or places of businesses unless I receive approval from you specifically). Thanks to anyone who might want to share

...and of course, this is nothing at all like Aaron's work (which the NIU library has, but I haven't been able to get my hands on it to check it out because it wasn't on the shelf it should have been on last time I looked for it. I think someone stole it -- the sure sign of a good book! :o) Kfred replied over at the orange version of this post, and I wanted to share what I wrote over there w/you here, too:
Hope you've all been doing well. It has been nuts over here; 4 classes (2 of them Honors) this semester -- first time I attempted to juggle f/t with everything else -- has had me peel way, way back on everything else. Miss you guys. I just won the "Illinois Journalist of the Year - Student" scholarship from NIU last night, though. (Same award Markos won in '95, the program said). So, all the hard work in school is paying off.
One final update: I'm going to be covering the upcoming Journalism That Matters conference "New Pamphleteers/New Reporters" convening in Minneapolis-St. Paul on June 4-6. I've registered at a special rate in trade for photographing the event (thanks, Bill!). I'll definitely post on that over here after it happens. Is anyone thinking of going?

Ilona... I got a bounce back on my survey

Been out all day, so didn't see it until just now. Re: Media Giraffe: Kfred expressed interest in going to the St. Paul gig so I sent her the stuff. Cool if you guys can meet up.

Thanks again, Susie...

I'm doing the data crunching now, and wanted to thank you (and everyone else) for taking the time to help out. I've gotten nearly 20 survey respondents in total, so I'm very happy. I sent the survey out to past Journalism That Matters and National Conference on Media Reform attendees -- conferences I probably never would have been involved in if not for my relationship with ePMedia -- and now I'm all set. ePMedia always saves the day!

Hi Ilona!

Just sent you some answers...

Big thanks, Tim!

Reading over everyone's responses makes me even happier that ePMedia's around; we need this Purple beast now more than ever. :o)
