When he made his decision, Edwards didn't even tell many of his former top advisers because he wanted to make sure that he personally talked to Clinton to give her the news, said the person close to him. Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, who has spoken favorably about Clinton's health care plan, did not travel with him to Michigan and is not part of the endorsement.
Hillary's plan shouldn't be an issue, because Obama's campaign will adopt a form of universal healthcare before the convention. It's the last clear bright line separating the parties within the Party.
Edwards Remarkable Speech
John Edwards gave an absolutely wonderful speech. You can hear it without a breal here. He announced that he and Obama have joined forces to bring the troops home in 2009, and he spoke vehemently against a government that would deny veterans health care and leave them to sleep under bridges and denounced the shame of our nation divided into two Americas.
