Michael Kanellos/CNET: Can Greentech Make Housing Cheaper?
We are 20 percent lower in price and take 80 percent less time,” she said. Ultimately, the price will drop to $134 dollars a square foot, according to Porat. .. The company, however, is only in stage one. It has yet to build a prototype or open a factory.

Every day it seems some company or another pops up with a "new" tool, method, and/or materials to construct everything under the sun "cheaper than . . ". Excellent, I'm downright happy for them. Soon as they build the first hundred or so, and bring them in at or under their estimate. Not an easy task.

Thing is, after the factory workers put the units together, they've got to be transported to the location, where a set crew will be waiting with a 125-ton crane parked in the middle of a downtown street, to drop the unit on a site-built foundation, with all of the underground utilities in.

And this is "green" because the little boxes are tricked out with gadgets & gizmos? Alrighty then.
