Sunday Art & Open Thread

Tired of feeling politically adverse? Me too! I found a better way to spend a beautiful July afternoon, immersing myself instead in a mosaic of nature and art at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. The featured exhibit this summer is:

Niki at the Missouri Botanical Garden is the first time the works of artist Niki de Saint Phalle have been seen in St. Louis in an exhibition of this magnitude.

Forty monumental mosaic sculptures made in a rainbow of colors and materials from fiberglass, stones, glass, mirrors, and semi-precious materials will be placed throughout the Garden.

If you enjoyed these photos, there are more on the other side.

Visit Niki de Saint Phalle's website, The Tarot Garden to see more sculpture and find biographical information on the late artist.

Oh MY!

You and your camera have decidedly outdone yourself. These are amazing sculptures. Thank you for capturing them for us.

Thanks

The sculpture is a great addition to the gardens. Adults enjoy the pleasing aesthetic qualities while children can touch, climb and even explore the interior of a few of them. The skull interior is all mirror fragments so it is like visiting the house of mirrors they used to have at carnivals. We didn't see all of them yet but hope before they leave in October.
