Of Quantum Physics and PTSD: The Dots Are Already Connected.
Having read DEFuning's article on Genetic Transmission of PTSD? I know that some of the concepts can be a little strange. I am therefore supplying some background information to show that from what we understand of Quantum Physics, that is, the study of subatomic particles, we can know that this is possible.
What we can learn from quantum physics is that there is nothing about the structure of the universe that specifically prohibits genetically transferring learned information. Quantum physics in fact, could theoretically toss everything we think we know about it out on its ear.
Entanglement, a physics term for implying that everything is connected in some way we do not understand, demonstrates that unusual connections can take place.
The collapsing wave function demonstrates that consciousness has an effect on physical reality.
And let's not forget that energy and mass are simply two forms of the same thing.
It is beyond the scope of this article to explain all this stuff in the detail that would be required. If you're interested, here are some links:
You can find quantum entanglement here on wikipedia.
You can find the wave function collapse here.
You can find a physics book which puts all of this in layman terms here.
I'm sharing this information because I want to make a point. When you see things like this PTSD article there is a tendency to be skeptical because it does not match our classical view of the world. It's important to understand that this classical view only applies above the quantum level and even then, only superficially.
At the quantum level, we are all intimately connected with everything else in the universe; Observing something physically changes it and energy and mass are simply different forms of the same thing.
It's important to know that this sort of weirdness is the norm, not the exception.
