The redesigned Poynter Online went "live" yesterday. Nicely done. First lede this morning: Fox News slogan is called "an insult to people with brains". People who actually have brains should check out the Swiftboat 2.0 tool from MediaMatters Action. Literally connects the (news) dots. :: :: :: On the one hand McClatchy's flagship newspaper is undergoing a redesign (see: TheScoop/sacbee: a peek at sacbee's new homepage), and they are actively involving the public. On the other hand, they are shrinking: Dale Kasler/sacbee: Bee offers buyouts to a majority of full-time employees:

The Bee is one of seven McClatchy papers to offer buyouts this month, including the Modesto Bee, Fresno Bee, Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader, Kansas City Star, Wichita (Kan.) Eagle and Fort Worth Star-Telegram. McClatchy Treasurer Elaine Lintecum said there was no corporate edict on buyouts.
