Keating to McCain: "I'm yours till death do us part." (photo)
Keating to McCain in 1986: ‘I’m yours til death do us part.’»Till death do them part. Could that be any creepier? "He's mine. Hehe. Till death do us part. Heh.Heh. Hehe." These are the silly little things that grow legs and run away with elections sometimes. Throw it out, see if it sticks. The Obama campaign waited until just the right time to blow the Keating 5 past wide open, and the climate couldn't have been better. Everything seems to be going Obama's way. All we can hope is that it holds out for another 25 days. This just keeps getting better from that first day when McCain's attorney came out to discredit the allegations he knew were on the way.
The Washington Times reports that in 1986, John McCain wrote a note on House stationery to Charles Keating, chairman of a failed savings and loan association who went to prison in the late 1980s. In the letter, McCain apologized for listing Keating as part of his Senate campaign finance committee. Keating wrote in response: “You can call me anything, write anything or do anything. I’m yours till death do us part
McCain attorney John Dowd attempts to set the record straight on McCain and the Keating Five scandal in a media call. Says McCain was “completely open with both the public and the Senate” during the hearings. Emphasized he was not found to have violated any rule of the Senate or law of the U.S.He was completely open and he was found to not have broken any laws. He's not a crook. Nice. Any day when a politician has to have his attorney come out and say that is a bad day. A very bad day.
