Obama's On the Housetop

With apologies to the great Leroy Carr who, with Scrapper Blackwell, recorded "Papa's On the Housetop" back in 1930:

Bill told Barack,

Be quiet as a mouse;

Barack he climbed up

On top of the house.

Made a lot of whoopee,

Made a lot of noise.

Changing the song

Yet keeping his poise.

(chorus)

Dubya’s in the toilet,

McCain is out of town;

Michelle’s in the parlor,

Trying on a gown;

The press is in the kitchen,

Messed it all around;

Obama’s on the housetop

And won’t come down.

The blues they come,

Oh, the blues they come.

Everybody knows where

These blues come from.

The blues they go,

Oh, the blues they go;

Everybody’s happy when

The Bush blues go.

(chorus)

Obama saw John M.

Down in the yard,

He tied him to Bush

And he tied him hard.

Tied him hard

To what Bush said,

Now McCain is back in Phoenix

While Obama moves ahead.

(chorus)
