Des Moines is flooding. It's bad. From here, some of the (currently) latest news:

_____

Culver said "the good news today is we are holding our own" against flood damages but "Iowa City is bracing for a real wave of water which is on the way."

FEMA declares disasters: The Federal Emergency Management Agency has granted a presidential disaster declaration for the following counties: Adams, Boone, Cerro Gordo, Crawford, Dallas, Dubuque, Floyd, Franklin, Marion, Page, Story, Tama and Union. Now that the disasters have been declared, residents and businesses can begin applying for federal disaster assistance. Black Hawk, Buchanan, Butler and Delaware counties had already received federal disaster declarations.

Seeking public health declaration: Iowa's congressional delegation is asking the U.S. secretary of health and human services to declare a public health emergency in areas of Iowa devastated by floods and tornadoes. They also want certain usual rules governing Medicare beneficiaries to be relaxed for the time being.
