Confessions of a Madman -- that Cheney wants public?

Those extra 2 docs that "justify the policies of the past", that Cheney is so interested in, looks like one of them was already released.

I didn't believe the "A to Z" Confessions of the the "9/11 Mastermind" then. I'm not inclined to believe them now.

But you be the judge.

Looks like Cheney may be after a doc that supposedly details what top Al Qaeda official Khalid Muhammad revealed under torture.

A serious protest, Oregon sues Oppenheimer

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — State officials are seeking $36.2 million in damages from OppenheimerFunds Inc., which managed a fund responsible for steep losses in the Oregon College Savings Plan. Elizabeth Warren pursues Oversight, through TARP Maze

originally posted 2009-04-12 21:29:02 -0500, bumped by carol

Elizabeth Warren was appointed chair of a newly created Congressional Oversight Panel (COP), which is charged with keeping tabs on the $700 billion bailout of the financial sector - including Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP).

Warren however, has had some "Trouble" getting straight forward answers ... as she explained to the Boston Globe:

Keeping tabs on the bailout

By Elizabeth Warren -- April 12, 2009

Elizabeth Warren: There's a major problem and a minor problem. The minor problem is documentation. I've spent four weeks now looking for someone who can give me the details of the stress test so that we can do an independent evaluation of whether the stress test is any good.

We get: "someone will call [you] right back." Only the call doesn't come. The major problem is ...

Oregon Old Growth and W's Last Minute Timber Deal

Losing ancient forests

The WOPR [Western Oregon Plan Revision] has three primary alternatives, including the Bush Administration's 'preferred' alternative: Alternative 2.

Under this plan, the BLM would clearcut 139,700 acres (over 200 square miles) of mature and old growth forest while building 1,000 miles of logging roads per decade, converting pristine ancient forests into monoculture tree farms.

Clearcutting would become the preferred logging method, and 24% of all logging would target trees 200 years and older.

The WOPR effectively pulls the BLM forests out from the scientific framework of the Northwest Forest Plan. The Northwest Forest Plan was enacted in 1994 and set aside old growth forests and sensitive areas along streams and rivers to protect them - while allowing some continued logging.

Ominous Arctic Melts Worry Experts: An already relentless melting of the Arctic greatly accelerated this summer, a warning sign that some scientists worry could mean global warming has passed an ominous tipping point. One even speculated that summer sea ice would be gone in five years.

Why do "Free" Markets, cost SO much?

If Free Markets are the supposed Engine of Growth,

Why do they always seem to lead to a "money grab",
a greedy "land rush", with the Tax payer ALWAYS picking up the Bill?

Why do the Rich, always manage to get richer?

While those who "play by the rules", just manage to get "pink slips" and foreclosure notices?

And an endless pile of Bills?

What are Progressive Values?

Progressive Values?
Howard Dean - Fairness, Responsibility ...

What does the Democratic Party stand for?

Howard Dean lists these "Core Values" of the Democratic Party

1) Fairness and Equal Rights for all

2) Strength and Toughness

3) Fiscal Responsibility

These are demonstrated by providing Health Care for all.

Dean stresses the urgent need for us to express these values, on an emotional level, and not just in Policy Statements.

" Drafted by Thomas Jefferson

between June 11 and June 28, 1776,

the Declaration of Independence is at once

the nation's most cherished symbol of liberty

and Jefferson's most enduring monument.

...
Here, in exalted and unforgettable phrases,

Jefferson expressed the convictions

in the minds and hearts of the American people
.

The political philosophy of the Declaration was not new;

its ideals of individual liberty

had already been expressed by John Locke

and the Continental philosophers.

What Jefferson did was to summarize this philosophy

in "self-evident truths"

and set forth a list of grievances

against the King

in order to justify before the world

the breaking of ties between the colonies

and the mother country. "

The Reason Why the Congress "Did Nothing" ...

It is SO Important to pay attention to Down Ticket races, if we really want to put America on a New Track.

Even though Democrats won a slim majority in the House and Senate in 2006, the GOP has been able to block most of the New legislation that the Democrats have been authoring on behalf of the American People.

The Republican Strategy for the last 2 years, "Run against the Do-Nothing Congress in 2008".

How? By blocking nearly every Bill from Passing in the Senate, under the pretext of Debate, otherwise known as the Filibuster.

Are you better off than you were 8 years ago?

Have you been working harder and harder, becoming more productive all the time, only to see your wages, fail to keep up with that ever increasing cost of living?

It's not your imagination ...

It's just the way our Economic System tilts ...

The Republican voter fraud hoax
Brad Friedman - October 13 2008

Despite the screaming wall-to-wall coverage of "Democratic voter fraud in 11 swing states" as seen on Fox News and even the once-respectable CNN, none of it's true. None of it.
...
That will be the November surprise, when thousands, if not millions show up to vote only to find they are no longer welcome to do so and are forced to vote on a "provisional ballot" which may or may not be counted.

These real concerns of election fraud, such as voting roll purges, electronic voting machines that don't work and so much more that actually matters, have been obscured by the smoke and mirrors and sleight of hand of the Republican party's phoney Acorn voter fraud charade.

The Canaries of the Sea, granted a Pardon, this time ...

Posted yesterday (2008-10-17 20:56:22 -0500); deserving of a second look. -- GH.

A beluga’s mouth is permanently upturned like a smile. It’s easy to connect with these sociable whales ...

Often called "canaries of the sea," beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas) broadcast squeals, trills, chirps and other sounds through their blowholes. ... These vocalizations can be communications between animals. They might also be used to echo-locate, or interpret the sound waves that bounce back to discern what food or obstacles are ahead.

Belugas live in the frigid waters near the Arctic Circle.

Maybe the times really are changing, because those Belugas just won a Big Victory against none other, than the "Pals of Big Oil" ...
