I love my gMail and would hate to ever be parted from it.  I moved away from using MS Outlook because I simply could not control the SPAM.  I hate SPAM (both the email kind and the canned artificial meat kind).  gMail has all but eliminated the SPAM and I don't have to worry about saving my PST file so I have it when I have to reformat my @#$@#$ VISTA laptop.

Chickens Come Home to Roost: Bradley J. Schlozman

Over the past couple of years ePluribus Media researchers and writers have published many stories about the DOJ, including several biographical pieces on the main villans. Watchers of the DOJ drama have been anticipating a report on the hiring practices of the Bush/Gonzales Justice Department. The long-awaited report has finally been released.

As you will remember, Mr. Schlozman was the "appointment" to replace Todd Graves as US Attiorney in W. Missouri. This appointment was the ultimate "reward" for his shenanigans that played a major role in politicization of the Department of Justice.  While at the DOJ, he actively promoted the Republican's unusual brand of "voter rights" for which he received promotions to positions of greater authority.

 From the Mailbag ...

Got this photo from an old friend in Montana.  Mother Nature recently dumped inches and inches of the white stuff. When I talked to my Mom on Saturday she was snowed in (the snow was so deep from the night before that she couldn't get her front door open.

How is winter treating you in your neck of the woods?

Lawyer gets 5-cent IRS bill, 4-cent refund

James Howarth is a little confused by two letters he has received from the Internal Revenue Service.

So, he gets a letter containing a bill for 5-cents ... then gets a letter with a notice that he has a 4-cent refund coming.  Both letters were ... mailed. Just what is the cost of mailng a letter these days? Does the IRS have to pay postage? How many of these types of letters do you suppose get mailed by the IRS every year?

Don't you think they could tell the computer to kick back any bills or refunds that are under $1.00? or $.50? The expense of printing the invoice (along with the accompanying payment coupons, etc) stuffing the envelope, mailing the letters ... cost us a whole lot more than the 5-cents the IRS would have collected.

Feeling the Pinch - Roundup of Economic News

Things just seems to be getting more dismal on the economic front. Even after the approval of the bailout or TARP, the Dow is still flirting with 8,000 and foreign markets are declining. There are visible signs locally, with decreased traffic, fewer people eating out, and even tho retailers are offering huge sales the number of shoppers is down.

What are you doing on Election Day?

With only hours to go before polls open on the East coast, political junkies are plugging into the election.

Thr robocalls have been back-to-back since 5PM. Senator Daniel Akaka has called a couple of times, calls for Mayor Mufi Hanniman, numerous calls in support of the light rail system.

In mythology, Cerberus is the many headed dog that guards the gates to hell.  In modern times, Cerberus is a hedge fund group -- a many headed beast that has been devouring companies at a rapid rate. A hedge fund group with over 16 Billion in assets (as reported here) and allegedly bigger than "Cisco, Coke, Or McDonald's".

Cerberus was founded by Steven Feinberg in 1992 with just a little over 10 million dollars.  The shopping spree started in 2003, with Cerberus more than doubling its assets during a two year period.
