Two Mules for Sister Sarah?

Bumped. -- GH

From The Irish Times

"The right wing is coming home," former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan said on MSNBC. "From the fever swamps and the forests, they're all coming home to Sister Sarah."

Yes, the 'publicans have a pet name for their newest star -- Sister Sarah. I immediately got a mental picture of Shirley McClain riding a mule:

Any of you who have seen the movie know that the "Sister" turns out to be a whore. I think I would have found a different nickname.

"Lions for Lambs" is a haunting movie. There are three separate stories being told that all weave together.

Meryl Streep is (of course) awesome as aging journalist, Janine Roth. Roth has been invited to interview Senator Jasper Irving (Tom Cruise's character). Cruise is devilish as the charming Senator trying to sell the war.

UPDATED orginally published -- 2008-04-23 11:19:51 -1000

A new development in the Hans von Spakovsky story ... hat tip [again] to Avahome.

The Washington Post is reporting today that Hans is now working as a special assistant for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

Commissioner Michael Yaki opposed the move. "Usually assistants are young folks out of law school who are excited to learn, not a way station for retreads who've been criticized for their less than sterling defense of voting rights laws," he said.

There are those of us, who hold our progressive values in higher esteem than loyalty to any particular party. This little quote, from the comments ...

It pays to know what you are asking for before you are unlucky (or perhaps stupid) enough to actually get it.

... seems to imply that those of us that have decided not to vote for Barack Obama are "stupid".

Did the Original Maverick get his Saddleback? The Purpose Driven Election

I have a few things that are really sticking in my craw. First, why are we having a "presidential debate" in a church (even if it is one that is the size of a stadium)? Second, why would a Democratic candidate agree to debate in a church like Saddleback?

Yikes! Folks! this is some scary stuff. Here is a little background on Pastor Warren ...

Saddleback Pastor Rick Warren (author of The Purpose Driven Life -- and other marvelous works).

Will start off with the grins ... from SFGate a little story about 9 new wonder drugs. The first on on the list?

Scientists at the Ronald Reagan School for Pschyoeconomic Paroxysms have reportedly developed a new drug that, after just a few weeks, induces random bouts of forgetfulness combined with the ability to reverse ideological direction in an instant, most notably when large amounts of cash are placed directly in front of the face.

Getting the most out of being crawled: Tags, Keywords and Title

Back in April of 2007 David Sifry reported on the Technorati blog: "Technorati is now tracking over 70 million weblogs, and we're seeing about 120,000 new weblogs being created worldwide each day. That's about 1.4 blogs created every second of every day." Tags have become an important part of indexing all that new content. If we want people to read what we write, we have to do our part to make our content as accessible as possible -- and intelligent tagging is an important part of that.
