Super Tuesday

I shall be adding to this post through the day, and I hope others will join me. Here is an online video link for real time coverage of the primary, that looks interesting. :::

Amy Goodman has the quote of the day in her piece WESTERN CIVILIZATION: An Idea Whose Time Has Come.

As the race narrows, it is a key moment to reflect: One leading candidate, John McCain, was actually tortured (unlike Mukasey, although McCain supported his confirmation). McCain predicted we may be in Iraq for 100 years. He is up against Mitt Romney, who said he would double the size of Guantanamo. Neither of the remaining leading Democratic candidates calls for the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Yes, it is a key moment to reflect on the teachings of Gandhi. When asked what he thought of Western civilization, Gandhi responded, "I think it would be a good idea."

I also found an article on alternet by Ted Daley, that reflects the views of many of us here, including myself. Super Tuesday: Where's the Candidate That Represents Me?. He discuss the disenfranchisement of progressive voters when John Edwards dropped out.

for a good place to watch the returns. The I expect the coverage from Brave New Films and The Young Turks to be too slanted for my taste since the majority of the people covering have come out in advance as supporting or voting for Obama. MSNBC has so far provided some of the most disappointing coverage on the cable news channels having been over run by Hillary haters. I will probably stick to checking individual sites in the different states, either the Secretary of State's or a reputable local media source. Of the cable news, CNN will probably get more of my time.

They claim that they will have live feeds with the vote as it comes in.

are good.

Sizable popular vote and delegate lead. Interesting voter breakdown. Clinton strength here appears to be non-black female voters. I find that extremely encouraging. My God it is the south and men are voting for a black guy. Something good has happened in this country,

Well we're all watching the same news!!! Night all.

Cable internet service is down and I am stuck with my very slow cell phone dial up for now.
