Cataclysmic: The GOP's Politics Are Anathema To Good Government And Fiscal Responsibility

Originally posted 2011-02-17 17:54:35 -0500. Bumped and promoted. -- GH

Yes, it's their strategy. It's part of their practiced meme, and nobody's called them on it. They rinse, repeat and repackage the same tired old b.s. time and again, increasingly ginning up greater crises and fomenting unrest while claiming that government is the problem, and they're the 'solution.'

And too many people keep falling for it.

Well, now maybe more people will begin to wake up and start remembering -- and keep telling each other to stay awake, stay alert and make it through the next election cycle with one goal intact: oust the GOP and their Teapublican buddies, once and for all, from all levels of government if you want to have at least an even chance of beginning to fix the mess that this merry-go-round has been generating.

Attention, DHS & US Secret Service -- Joyce Kaufman: Insurrectionist, Seditionist, un-American Traitor

Hat-tip Lordrag of DelphiForums for the tip.

People who claim that the Tea Party is a party "of the people, by the people and for the people" are ignoring just what kind of "people" these folks are "for" -- it's not United States citizens, it's citizens who are "like them." They ignore the diverse mix of cultures, races and ethnicities that combine to form our nation's people.

"Tea Baggers" more aptly describe the hateful, fearful, angry insanity that grips them.

So does the term "lunatic fringe."

With any luck, the FBI -- along with DHS and the Secret Service -- are keeping track of these dangerous, unstable individuals. And with a bit of due diligence, perhaps they've assembled enough evidence to start pressing charges against them in a way that helps ensure a trial that will expose their insanity and bring out the facts that they appear to be so ignorant, and yet so angered & fearful, of.

The YouTube video posted above contains some violent, inciteful rhetoric. Here's a couple of choice tidbits (any errors in transcription are mine):

__________

06:00 - 06:25 minutes in:

"I don't care how this gets painted by the mainstream media. I don't care if this shows up on YouTube, because I am convinced that the most important thing that the founding fathers did to ensure me my first amendment rights was they gave me a second amendment. And if ballots don't work, bullets will."

07:47 minutes in:

"When I say I'll put my microphone down on November 2nd if we haven't achieved substantial victory, I mean it. Because at that point, I'm gonna go up into the hills of Kentucky, I'm gonna go out into the midwest, I'm gonna go up in the, ah, Vermont and New Hampshire, ah, outreaches, and I'm gonna gather together men and women who understand that some things are worth fighting for, and some things are worth dying for."

__________

Where the hell was the outrage during the Bush/Cheney administration? Why are these folks so ignorant of the party mostly responsible for not only dropping this nation off an economic cliff while gutting our social and national security safety nets? Why don't these idiots look at the record of the party that was in power, and see how that party has been steadfastly working to prevent the current Administration from addressing and resolving the issues caused by the previous two?

That's the key: they're only angered about losing an election. Since they only favor democracy when it works in their favor, they show their true colors when reality catches up to them...and those colors most certainly aren't red, white and blue.

Their calls to insurrection and for assassination certainly aren't very Christian, either.

It's time that the FBI, Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security begin taking action and bring some charges against some of these imbeciles, before more poor unbalanced fools takes up arms and start shooting indiscriminately.

Otherwise, calls for sedition and treason, as well as shout-outs for the assassination of duly elected government officials, may well spark a violent conflagration between the steadily-increasing numbers of unbalanced, desperate people and the rest of our citizenry.

C'mon, folks -- do your jobs, if you've got enough direct evidence to enable you to move to counteract the rising tides of fear, loathing, anger and resentment before it turns into something even more ugly.

The Past And The Present: Brief Thoughts And A Question

Forty-six years ago today, on 22 November 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, TX.

In an effort to show that they want to achieve full status as domestic terrorists, the right wing -- with the full faith and promise of the GOP and its media propaganda machine -- is escalating ongoing efforts to incite violence, foment revolution and trigger assassination attempts on the current President and his Administration.

The levels of inappropriate political discourse are increasing almost exponentially, as the GOP does everything possible to prevent the Obama Administration and current Democratic majorities in Congress from achieving any measure of success in cleaning up the mess caused by 8+ years of GOP dominance, incompetence and corruption.

My question is simple, really: why can't these people be called out for their willful ignorance, their unAmerican and treasonous terrorist activities and their perpetual, intentional instigation of ongoing threats against our government?

Lies and Videotape: Indict Bush Administration Officials For Their Lies and Crimes

This is a reminder of what the former Administration said -- just look around and see where that got us, and the size of the mess it created for the current Administration, for the nation and for the world:

Isn't it time for a little accountability, some legal investigation and some accountability?

Beyond The Pale -- The Treasonous Bloodlust of the GOP's Reichwing Lunatic Fringe

It's not too late to stop the madness, but we're awfully close to falling over the edge and into the abyss. Remember when I issued this note of caution?

__________

It's begun. The wackos have all begun to unwind and step out from behind their stately faux patriotism with their lunatic friends, fomenting rebellion and attempting to instigate violence. It's an insidious fifth column of propaganda and divisiveness, delivered through auspices of free speech yet fooling few in the rank desperation of their calls to incitement.

-- GreyHawk, Inappropriate Political Discourse: The Blood of Patriots and Tyrants

__________

Well, since then, the incitement and frothing nutty insanity of the right has grown significantly. Republican "leaders" are now openly telling their faithful to "get their guns" and buy more bullets, to prepare for a time to "take back" America.

"Take back" America? They "had" America for 8 years, during which they ravaged the nation and ran amuck; now, they want to "take it back"? From Glenn Beck's recent insane drivel about "the military and police are with us" to Rep. Trent Franks referring to Obama as an "enemy of humanity" the reichwing's anti-American hatespeech has been steadily escalating. It's spilling over into action more and more often now: people showing up with guns at rallys with the President, the assassination of Dr. George Tiller and the lynching, and subsequent smearing of Bill Sparkman.

These people are no longer operating with anything but the intent to incite violence and depose a legitimately elected, popular and intelligent leader in favor of a return to their corrupt, inept and destructive control of our nation.

We've covered some aspects of this behavior before (Boehner at CPAC calling all of Obama's Policies Socialist), and here's a quick list of other stories that have hit the wires lately:

See also: inappropriate political discourse

This is beyond the pale, ladies and gentlemen.

It's time for leaders and lawmakers to stand beside law-abiding citizens to denounce and quell these unAmerican, dangerous, hate-filled acts and to assert an air of sanity back into the rapidly decaying mental state of the GOP's lunatic base.

And it's time to publicly denounce and censure all those GOP "leaders" who participate in these efforts to foment and incite violent dissention.

No more free passes.

These bastards fought any efforts to hold them and the previous administration accountable during the Bush years while they gleefully bragged about how they were going to continue to do whatever they wanted. They sought a "permanent Republican majority" and a golden age of graft.

They destroyed our infrastructure and economy, and most importantly they LOST the last election.

They are now looking for any excuse to refuse the new President and Administration the courtesy of helping clean up the mess they made; they are now steadfastly determined to block any part of the new agenda, and to incite their more rabid followers to violence in efforts to further damage our nation.

This must end now, before any more blood is spilled. They must be held accountable, and forced to begin acting like adults instead of dangerously unbalanced psychotic thugs and legalized mobsters.

Over the Line: Wingnut Pastor Attempts Inciting Presidential Assassination

Hat-tip LordRag of DelphiForums.

From Crooks and Liars, the Reich Wing has finally crossed the line:

That's no longer free speech -- that's incitement to commit murder. I'll bet it also violates multiple instances of the USA PATRIOT Act and a slew of DHS, FBI, Secret Service and other assorted federal and state rules, regulations and laws.

The GOP has a responsibility to rein in the hysteria, and they are instead choosing to bolster select elements while denying any responsiblity. To me, their failure is more than criminal. It's more than a mere oversight.

It's blatant complicity.

The Republican leadership has failed to speak up, to speak out and to quell these lunatics. They refuse to accept their responsibility as leaders. The men and women of today's Republican party are arrogant, self-centered cowards; unAmerican, unChristian, myopic and self-centered hypocrites of the most heinous nature. They were elected by the people in order to represent the public good and act to preserve not only public welfare but also to represent the best of their districts in the halls of government. They are supposed to act with relative selflessness, with integrity and conforming to the rules of decorum. They should be expected to pursue the concept of due diligence in all the ways that they represent their constituents, and the way they contribute to a stronger nation.

They are willfully and maliciously abdicating their roles and responsibilities. They are actively working against the security of the nation, interfering with and endangering the proper operation of government and aiding and abetting those who would do damage to our nation and duly elected leadership.

The GOP -- as a whole -- must now choose: stand up and take responsibility. Take action to defuse the chaos you've been feeding. Do it now, before the whole thing explodes in the collective faces of everyone in the nation -- before some lunatic sets off the spark that acts as the first and last sign of your criminal, treasonous activity.

Stand up now and put out the smoldering fires you've been feeding, before it's too late.

This is a hell of your own making, and only you can save yourself from the inevitable damnation it will bring...and the innocent blood that you'll be responsible for spilling.

"What sluggards, what cowards have I brought up in my court, who care nothing for their allegiance to their lord. Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?"

Their actions are as deplorable and childish as they are psychotic and dangerous.

__________

Yes, I've just quoted myself. And now I'm going to quote a recent piece by David Neiwert of Crooks and Liars, which I strongly recommend you read and share: There's a reason the Obama-hating crazies are coming out of the woodwork --

__________

When people become the subject of a relentless campaign of demonization -- especially by the use of grotesque smears that make them out to be monsters and provably false "facts" that have the concrete effect of unhinging people from reality -- it will only be a matter of time before the lethal violence breaks out.

And while the concern for Obama is well-placed -- he is, after all, the focus of all this hatred -- there is only a remote likelihood of anyone actually succeeding in harming him, since he is very well protected indeed. What's far more likely, in fact, is that some innocent bystanders in his vicinity will be harmed -- or, moreover, that the crazies will decide that instead of harming Obama, they will take out their hatred on his supporters.

__________

Neiwert firmly hits the nail on the head and drives the point home by quoting an excerpt from the Knoxville church shooter's manifesto, which I'll repeat here. I've highlighted the bits that stand out for me:

__________

This was a symbolic killing. Who I wanted to kill was every Democrat in the Senate & House, the 100 people in Bernard Goldberg's book. I'd like to kill everyone in the mainstream media. But I know those people were inaccessible to me. I couldn't get to the generals & high ranking officers of the Marxist movement so I went after the foot soldiers, the chickenshit liberals that vote in these traitorous people. Someone had to get the ball rolling. I volunteered. I hope others do the same. It's the only way we can rid America of this cancerous pestilence.
__________

We cannot afford to forget the lessons of history. The piece I'd written and quoted from at the start is a piece that begins with an infamous and oft-quoted reference to an incident that is well known in history: the murder of Thomas Beckett, as incited by a King.

These people have no honor.

They have no souls left sell.

The defenders of torture, the proponents of illegal and unConstitutional programs and the liars who'll deny health and equal rights to all Americans are now calling for the death of a captured American soldier.

Virginia GOP Candidate Attempts to Incite Insurrection

Courtesy of DailyKos.

Excerpts from the infamous "bullet box" speech by Catherine Crabill, the Virginia Republican Party’s candidate for House of Delegates from the 99th District (full video here):

The Virginia GOP candidate is banging the drum and sounding the clarion call for all the right-wing nutjobs to rise up against the legitimate government of the United States because they can no longer undermine and betray the laws and the Constitution directly.

I hope the FBI and Secret Service are watching these lunatics, and preparing to act to prevent the violence that the GOP is trying so hard to incite.

Michael Scheuer Calls For Osama to Attack: Glenn Beck and Fox News Air It

Three days before the Fourth of July -- a holiday celebrating our nation's Independence Day -- and the reich-wing has stepped up the drumbeat toward insurrection, treason and sedition. Hat-tip to MinistryOfTruth of DailyKos

Every Republican member of Congress should be immediately called upon to voice their opinion on this outrage, on the record and in public.

Every right-wing pundit and "strategist" -- particularly those like Karl Rove, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh -- should have to weigh in, publicly and on the record.

This is the ultimate incitement of domestic and foreign actions by active enemies during a time of war: it is treasonous, it is seditious, it is wrong on so many levels.  In light of all the troops who have fought in our name and to protect our nation "over there" so that we could never again be attacked over here, this unrejected statement made by Schaeur on Fox News is the ultimate slap in their faces.

It is the ultimate in dishonor.

It is the ultimate un-American sentiment.

It is beyond fathomable.

Check out the diary by Ministry of Truth for action items, and get involved now -- before another Timothy McVeigh, James W. Von Brunn, Eric Robert Rudolph, Dan White, James Earl Ray, Lee Harvey Oswald or Scott Roeder.

Let's put the words of Mike Malloy to the test: do Republicans really want our nation to fail? Do Republicans really want us to bear the brunt of another 9-11 or Oklahoma City bombing?

They're worse than useless. These are terrorists. These are domestic terrorists. They want the country to fail, for God’s sake. They want exactly what anyone who attacked this country on September 11, 2001 wanted. The real internal terrorists are the Republicans, I mean, isn't that clear?

Those are the words attributed to Mr. Malloy; they ring too true, now. Let's put the Republicans in Congress to the real test, and see if they live up to their hype, or to their actions.  And in the meantime, let's ask the FCC and Secret Service to pay Fox and friends a little visit.

The radical right-wing attack forces are working themselves up into a frothing fury, poised on the brink of violence. Here's some examples from the recent past:

From clammyc's DailyKos diary Right wing hate speech and violent threats against Democrats on Dec 01, 2007:

A letter containing white powder addressed to then-candidate John Kerry.  Two other letters containing white powder did make it to Kerry’s office.  No word on the culprit and I don’t think anyone was punished for this.

John Edwards’ office evacuated in May and July 2007 after white powder found in the office and then when "beeping objects" were found.  No word on the culprit and I don’t think anyone was punished for this.

Keith Olbermann receives envelopes at his home containing white powder.  These were sent by someone who admitted to being an "acolyte" of Michele Malkin and Ann Coulter.

Two Democratic Senators, including Tom Daschle were sent anthrax letters in 2001.  The investigation has "run cold", even though the strain is one that was reportedly traced back to our own government.

Does it seem like there's a disturbing trend going on?  If not, it should.  It's gotten far worse, and is nearly out of hand now.  The incidence of inappropriate political discourse that calls for the blood of patriots and tyrants using inflammatory rhetoric has gotten out of hand. Right-wing pundit Glenn Beck paints chilling scenarios and pseudo-hero Chuck Norris calls for a rebellion...technically, aren't they one administration and several years too late to do our nation any good? Aside from that, the fact that they'd do so at all, in a way that seems crafted to stir the rabid masses and quite likely to incite violence instead of passive resistance is unconscionable.

Before this gets any further out of control -- before anybody actually does something stupid and innocent people get hurt -- keep an eye on the rhetoric and the reactions of the rabid, and if something looks like it is about to spark a violent reaction, make the call:

Here is the contact page for the US Secret Service.

Here is the contact page for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.2

Over the fold, some more examples of the crazy people and their tendencies toward violence born of delusion and fever-dreams.

With Malice Aforethought: Iraq, Permanent Bases, and Iran

Throughout the entire tenure of the George W. Bush Administration, they have been lying to us. Congressional Republicans who served any time since 2001 can no longer deny their role and complicity. The final bits are coming to light now that vindicate the cries of those of us who insisted that the invasion of Iraq was intended from day one of this Administration's tenure -- long before 9-11 happened.

It also bodes ill for Iran's short-term prospects.

There's a dKos diary that hit with this news early -- by Framlingham. Go give Recommends & tips.

The implications -- for the US, for the next President, for the current pResident, for members of the GOP who were in Congress anytime during the 2001-2008 timeframe. Now, we're talking about intention to deceive and malice aforethought.

Now we're assured of an Administration leaving behind a unholy, historic legacy of treason, war crimes, crimes against humanity, dereliction of duty, war profiteering, negligence, graft, corruption, voter suppression, obstruction of justice, and even major violations of the RICO act.
