They Dare Us To Watch It Happen

This just in, via Reuters:

Five Iranian Revolutionary Guard boats harassed and provoked three U.S. Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil shipping route off the Iranian coast, during the weekend, Pentagon officials said on Monday.

According to the officials, the radio transmission from one of the Iranian ships said: "I am coming at you. You will explode in a couple of minutes."

The officials said it was not unusual for Iranian boats to get close to U.S. ships in the strait but the radio transmission was unusual.

I'll bet.

It appears to be a direct attempt at provocation, doesn't it?

Note, too, that now that Congress has idiotically permitted der Leaderhoser to declare that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is a terrorist organization, the article starts off with the explicit statement "Five Iranian Revolutionary Guard boats" were the culprits -- another way of saying, along with the radio transmission, that "terrorists" threatened our ships.

This has all the earmarks of another attempt to "bait and switch" us into a pre-emptive war based, if not directly on lies, then upon a carefully executed "False Flag" effort.

If you are curious as to what that could mean, keep in mind the Downing Street Memo (DSM), where Dear Leader Bush was quoted as suggesting that a U2 plane, painted with UN colors, be flown over Iraq in order to draw fire and precipitate an excuse to begin major combat operations.

Combined with Bush's visit to the Israel just this very week, where it looks like his propensity for grasping cherry-picked intelligence may set us up for a situation where "rock solid" becomes the new "slam dunk" this year, we can't ignore the potential significance of this event.

Congress must now act to prevent another ill-advised, ill-fated and illegal military conflict by stripping this eunich Unitary Executive of power -- further delay risks serious implication and complicity in a planned, predetermined and blatantly criminal act of war.

Congress, do your duty: impeach Bush and Cheney now, before it's too late.

were actually deployed to the Straits of Hormuz ages ago, before any saber rattling over the Iranian threat.

Bush is putting the ships in danger by crowding 'em into a relatively small space -- almost like he's looking for trouble, eh?

Bush, Cheney and the neoconservative policies are not only dangerous -- they are criminal, warlike and subversive to the efforts of peace and security worldwide.

It's time to stop them and remove them from power, then hold them fully accountable for their crimes.

BEFORE they can strike again.

you mean 1988?

It appears to be a direct attempt at provocation...

The source is "US Officials" - no need to immediately put a lot of faith in this version. I'd like to see more substance.

We still do have that knee-jerk reaction of believing our government--something we should have stopped after the Gulf of Tonkin lies.

It would be nice to get to a point where we can really have confidence in the things our government says.

strong transparency, oversight and accountability.
